Blog Entry 4: Image Gathering

This photograph shows off her shoes, which is an important detail I liked. Plus, all the visuals in the background of the photo was the detailing that Sarah and I were going for; for our GUESS campaign. This advertisement seems like a good Springbreak ad and has helped us mold together one of our themes.
I chose this Guess logo , because it stands out , and reminds me of Spring. Sarah and I want our advertisements to be directed towards Spring and have bright colors.
This image inspires me for our process books. I like how the shoe's stand out in this photograph. Alot of our ideas are nature based and this Gucci advertisement illustrates that.

Blog Entry 3: Selected Brand and Research

Guess GWNAIBEL-PEMLL.jpg

My specific brand of footwear I chose was Guess. The company Guess was started in, 1981, in California. Initially, the company plan was just to produce jeans. Now, Guess? Inc. has developed into a global lifestyle brand. Guess? designs, markets, and distributes its full collection of women’s & men’s apparel throughout the United States and Canada. This company is known for their personified iconic, spunky, and sultry look. I’ll be focusing on women’s shoes. From the research I’ve done there are a lot of plat forms, stilettos, wedges, and lots of open toe shoes that are fashion forward for Spring 2010.

A concept to advertise this company would be more earth tones I came across. A lot of the advertisements were photographs that were taking outside and ad’s were placed in black and white too. In Soho, in New York City they have a huge selection of Guess?. To put together a fashion show it can take a lot of work. That’s why there should be a fashion show planning process. For this process you should have a theme, committee, work with retailers, have a master of ceremony, models, venue, and garments.

Guess? has had an numerous amount of Celebrity campaigns. Currently, Guess? had over 200 retail stores in the United States and over 50 store in Canada. Guess? also has over 250 stores Worldwide. Various Guess? product collections, exhibited in uniquely designed settings, create a visually pleasing and functional experience for shoppers worldwide. The company believes that Guess? style celebrates the human form, inspired not only by the truly spectacular faces that grace Guess?' signature photos, but also, by the very real men and women who are the true inspiration.

Formal Runway Show

Fashion shows are defined by their production style, which includes four categories: production, formal runway, informal, and multimedia production. Fashion shows create entertainment for the audience, and promote the designers merchandise, usually by advertising what the new trends are for the current season. For most shows the designers receive most of the profit, but there are some cases where there are charitable fashion shows as well. Every fashion show develops a theme and the music choice brings the show all together. By creating a runway essence for the models to strut to.

I’ve personally modeled in formal and informal fashion shows. I presented merchandise in a casual environment, and I’ve presented merchandise as a parade with the audience seated around the runway. Those are the only two types of fashion categories that I’ve been exposed to. For these shows the themes were represented and the venue was set up to coincide with all the elements. It’s important that the lighting, stage set up, and audio/sound is what the designer in tells because all these elements are created to perfection; to create a great show.

In the Valentino video The Last Emperor the film was created in dedication to Valentino’s hard work of designs. The dresses reminded me a lot of Fortuny’s gowns, which consisted of a lot of pleating. He’s the type of designer that bring’s his garments to life. He has created many masterpieces during his career. He added ruffle details to dress, V-neck dresses, and sleek fitted dresses too. The video was very realistic, because having lots of modeling experience backstage on the movie is what I experience a lot. This is an industry that I love and that’s why I’m apart of it.
