Pitch Letter

Dear Caroline,

80 percent of standard blood tests do not pick up on the vital signs that regulate obesity. These blood tests are important, because they pick up the vital gland in the body called thyroids. Many doctors aren’t taking time to look for the problem in their patients. I would like to refer you to Dr. Sanford Siegal for an interview. He is also the author of “Is Your Thyroid Making You Fat?” His book discusses the thyroid gland and how the thyroid can affect your weight and a lot more other facts.

Dr. Sanford Siegal is the leading obesity expert in this field and feels that the thyroid gland is one of the most over looked misdiagnosed health problems today. The thyroid helps your body regulate hormones that help your body function properly. Dr. Siegal feels that the thyroid gland is one of the most over looked and misdiagnosed health problems today. His unique obesity practice is driven by the most advanced testing and ability to treat his patient’s with their thyroid problems.

Since, he is a specialist Dr.Sanford Siegal can discuss the proper questions to ask your doctor, and so you can know what symptoms that you should look out for. The explanation of why lifestyle changes and proper testing can actually change people’s lives too.

If you are interested in setting up an interview with Dr.Siegal or if your interested in learning more on the topic please contact me by email at jzinno@5wpr.com or by telephone at 646-452-6417. Thank You

Claire Bernard's Cause: Improving Sanitation Conditions in Flood-Ravaged Bangladesh
For two years all my hard work that i've put into Oxfam GB has not paid off. Oxfam GB has been trying to create an innovation fund to test and develop sustainable water and sanitation technologies, and some of the fund's first projects are in Bangladesh. The population there is 156 million; this country is over populated. The country is only the size of Iowa and is unsanitary to have all those people living in a crowded area.

While the country as always been susceptible to floods and cyclones, my visit to the southwestern village or Gabura showed me how unpredictable and massice the flooding has become. I didn't get a chance to visit Gabura, however lots of the people told me about it. Since Cyclone Aila hit, ten months ago, it has been submerged under six feet of stagnant saline water, and it's displaced villagers reside on a thin embankment nearby, the tops of their houses peeking up in the distance.

These villagers live in huts that had colorful laundry or emergency blue plastic over them, delicately line both sides of the embankment, creating narrow walkways largly occupied by their livestock. There was so much color that there were pinks, oranges, greens, and browns everywhere. This was the most disturbing scene I've seen in my life. The women's clothing of the village was destructed by the cyclone. All the water made it difficult to build latrines, and that brought us out to Gabura to see the debut of Oxfam's desludger, a pump that empties a latrine into a nearby storage put in 20 minutes.

While 2.6 billion people worldwide do have access to basic sanitation, a few have access even to group sanitaion like the Gabura camps. In these places lots of diseases have been spread because most things are clean. Lots of latrines are dangerous and laborious to clean out. These villagers need help and are reaching out to you. If you have any type of donation the people of Gabura camp would appreciate it.

Like most cultures, the Bangladeshi look down upon people who handle waste meanwhile, these are some of the few jobs that are available. I grabbed the lever showing them that you should never judge a book by its cover. I helped pick up trash and clean, because I know it's for a cause. The people of Gabura village appreciated by concern.

Tone: informative
Organizational Model: facts, then opinions
Intended Audience: worldwide, and fashion readers
Purpose: to draw attention to this cause for help

Blog Entry 4: Image Gathering

This photograph shows off her shoes, which is an important detail I liked. Plus, all the visuals in the background of the photo was the detailing that Sarah and I were going for; for our GUESS campaign. This advertisement seems like a good Springbreak ad and has helped us mold together one of our themes.
I chose this Guess logo , because it stands out , and reminds me of Spring. Sarah and I want our advertisements to be directed towards Spring and have bright colors.
This image inspires me for our process books. I like how the shoe's stand out in this photograph. Alot of our ideas are nature based and this Gucci advertisement illustrates that.

Blog Entry 3: Selected Brand and Research

Guess GWNAIBEL-PEMLL.jpg

My specific brand of footwear I chose was Guess. The company Guess was started in, 1981, in California. Initially, the company plan was just to produce jeans. Now, Guess? Inc. has developed into a global lifestyle brand. Guess? designs, markets, and distributes its full collection of women’s & men’s apparel throughout the United States and Canada. This company is known for their personified iconic, spunky, and sultry look. I’ll be focusing on women’s shoes. From the research I’ve done there are a lot of plat forms, stilettos, wedges, and lots of open toe shoes that are fashion forward for Spring 2010.

A concept to advertise this company would be more earth tones I came across. A lot of the advertisements were photographs that were taking outside and ad’s were placed in black and white too. In Soho, in New York City they have a huge selection of Guess?. To put together a fashion show it can take a lot of work. That’s why there should be a fashion show planning process. For this process you should have a theme, committee, work with retailers, have a master of ceremony, models, venue, and garments.

Guess? has had an numerous amount of Celebrity campaigns. Currently, Guess? had over 200 retail stores in the United States and over 50 store in Canada. Guess? also has over 250 stores Worldwide. Various Guess? product collections, exhibited in uniquely designed settings, create a visually pleasing and functional experience for shoppers worldwide. The company believes that Guess? style celebrates the human form, inspired not only by the truly spectacular faces that grace Guess?' signature photos, but also, by the very real men and women who are the true inspiration.

Formal Runway Show

Fashion shows are defined by their production style, which includes four categories: production, formal runway, informal, and multimedia production. Fashion shows create entertainment for the audience, and promote the designers merchandise, usually by advertising what the new trends are for the current season. For most shows the designers receive most of the profit, but there are some cases where there are charitable fashion shows as well. Every fashion show develops a theme and the music choice brings the show all together. By creating a runway essence for the models to strut to.

I’ve personally modeled in formal and informal fashion shows. I presented merchandise in a casual environment, and I’ve presented merchandise as a parade with the audience seated around the runway. Those are the only two types of fashion categories that I’ve been exposed to. For these shows the themes were represented and the venue was set up to coincide with all the elements. It’s important that the lighting, stage set up, and audio/sound is what the designer in tells because all these elements are created to perfection; to create a great show.

In the Valentino video The Last Emperor the film was created in dedication to Valentino’s hard work of designs. The dresses reminded me a lot of Fortuny’s gowns, which consisted of a lot of pleating. He’s the type of designer that bring’s his garments to life. He has created many masterpieces during his career. He added ruffle details to dress, V-neck dresses, and sleek fitted dresses too. The video was very realistic, because having lots of modeling experience backstage on the movie is what I experience a lot. This is an industry that I love and that’s why I’m apart of it.

My Biography Final Copy

I'm a small town girl that was born on March 23, 1989 in Belleville, Illinois. I was raised in a town of less than 2,000 people called Lebanon, Illinois. Lebanon is located 30 miles outside of St.Louis, Missouri. For 16 years of my life I was raised an only child, then in 2004 my little sister was born. It took a big adjustment at first, but I loved it! I'm still my moms only child, and in 2007 my dads son was born. I moved out of Lebanon in 2000 to a place called Fairview Heights, Illinois. In Fairview Heights is where I finished Middle School and Junior High. After, graduating 8th grade I attended Belleville East High School. My senior year of High School I was Captain of the track team, was on Homecoming Court, and Prom Court. This was a big deal at Belleville East because my senior class was close to 800 students. After, my High School graduation in May 2007 I came to Stephens College in August 2007. Starting off my major was Legal Studies and a minor in Fashion Marketing. I soon changed my major to Fashion Marketing. As I got deeper into those classes I learned this wasn't the major for me either. The major was math intensive, and that's my worst subject. Now, I'm a Fashion Communications Major and a double minor in Event Planning and Graphic design. I'm happy I found my niche and will be graduating on May 15, 2011 with my degree.
